NATURAL HAIR CARE FAQ

Do Silk Presses cause heat damage?


No. When implemented correctly, silk presses do not cause any damage to one's natural hair texture. By using a number of different techniques, we ensure that no damage is done as a result of our silk press services.




I'm relaxed; am I able to book a Silk Press?


Yes. Although we specialize in natural hair care services, we accept clients with relaxed hair. Note: Relacxer services are not provided by The Slay Experience.




I would like to add a treatment to my service, which treatment is best?


The Slay Experience offers a number of treatments including a protein treatment, detoxifying scalp treatment, intense moisturizing treatment, etc. However, the needs of every client differ depending on the current state of their hair. To learn which treatment will best meet your needs, please contact us directly. Private in-person consulations are available for First-Time Clients and may be booked online.




Do you offer color services?


The Slay Experience is a chemical free zone and therefore, does not offer color services to clients at this time.




How often should I book a trim?


Trims are recommended every 6-8 weeks to prevent spilt ends, shedding, and other damage.

Where is The Slay Experience located?


We are located in a private studio at 3500 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Richmond, VA 23223. Further details regarding arrival instructions will be sent after your appointment is booked.




Are the openings listed on the booking site up to date?


Yes! Available dates and times on our booking site are automatically updated as clients book their appointment. If a date/time is not showing up on the booking site, it is not available. When the monthly calendar says "no appointments are available this month", this means that the month is already booked or has not opened yet.




Can I be notified when my desired date and time becomes available?


To be notified if your desired time becomes available, please submit a Waitlist Request Form. After your request is submitted, you may text or email us to check on your request status. Please click here to submit your request.




Are appointments available outside of working hours?


Appointments are not available outside of working hours. Our working hours are always listed in the footer of our website. Please note that our working hours may vary depending on the season or holiday.




Why is my card information required to book an appointment?


In order to secure your Slay Experience, a non-refundable deposit is required. All deposits are non-refundable and go towards the full service price.




Are you accepting new clients?


Due to COVID-19 and my pregnacy, I am not accepting new clients at this time. To be notified when I will be accepting new clients again, please subscribe to my mailing list.




Do you service children?


Yes. The Slay Experience services princess clients ages 5-12.





BOOKING POLICIES

BOOKING POLICY


After booking your appointment, please read over the confirmation email in its entirety. Confirmation emails contain important information regarding your appointment such as the address, preparation instructions, arrival instructions, etc.




STUDIO POLICY


Due to limited space in the studio, there are no extra guests allowed. This means no children unless being serviced. Only mothers of princesses (12 years or under) are allowed entry.




PRICE POLICY


Listed prices on our booking site are starting prices for services. Please be aware that there is a possibility that the service price may increase depending on your hair type and hair care needs.




LATE POLICY


Every client is granted a 10 minute grace period. After 10 minutes, an automatic $15 late fee will be applied. After 15 minutes, the appointment will automatically be cancelled and the client will need to reschedule their Slay Experience as well as pay the late cancellation fee of 50% of the remaining balance. Note: Clients must have entered the studio within the 10 minute grace period to avoid a late fee being applied. Please note that the above policy is for clients who have communicated their reason for tardiness. No shows will be responsible for paying 100% of their remaining balance.




RESCHEDULING POLICY


Clients may reschedule their Slay Experience using the same deposit one time after booking their original appointment. If the client must reschedule a second time, they must make a new deposit to secure their appointment.




PAYMENT POLICY


Remaining balances for all services must be paid in Cash OR Card (unless stated otherwise). Please bring exact change because change is not guaranteed. Note: Card payments require an additional 3% processing fee.




CANCELATION POLICY


If your Slay Experience must be cancelled, please do so 48 hours before the scheduled appointment. Cancelling within 48 hours will result in an automatic late cancellation fee of 50% of your remaining balance. No shows will be charged 100% of their remaining balance and will be prohibited from booking future appointments. No exceptions.




REFUND POLICY


Due to the nature of services, refunds are not permitted for any reason. Deposit payments are non-refundable.




DEPOSIT POLICY


A non-refundable deposit with an additional 3% service charge is required to secure every appointment. All deposit payments go towards the client's full service price. Note: That the additional 3% service charge does NOT go towards the client's full service price.
